Documentary producer Ian Thomas Ash accompanied Dr. Kaoru Konta and several nurses on palliative home visits in rural Japan, taking care of patients preparing for old age or disease death. Ash adopted a minimally invasive observation method, recording discussions between patients and their families, Dr. Konta, and other nurses on how they hoped to spend their final days of the year as the seasons changed and the lives of the three patients passed.
