John Blackthorne was a British ship pilot whose ship crashed on the coast of Japan in the early 16th century. Today, he is forced to deal with the two most powerful people in Japan. He was caught up in the war between Toranaga and Ishido, fighting for the title of shogun, which would give ultimate power to those who held the shogun title.
